CONSTRUCTION DESIGN [CDM 2015 REGULATIONS]
CDM regulations manage the health, safety, and welfare of construction projects. It applies to all building and construction work [Both Domestic and Commercial], including new builds, demolition, refurbishment, extensions, conversions, repair, and maintenance.
Guidance from the Government HSE website for Domestic work is HERE.
In 2015 the HSE made changes to the regulations to include project work with domestic clients.
It is concerning to know a high percentage of smaller contracting firms who work domestically are unaware of their duties under CDM 2015, believing it does not affect them, nor do they have the paperwork required under the new legislation, albeit this is minimal when compared to Commercial works. Thinking it will never happen, and HSE, will never turn up on site when working is not smart thinking. Remember that everyone has a duty of care under Health and Safety 1976 and can report unsafe practices.
So if you are a domestic contractor or client requiring CDM advice or need to make sure all requirements are met, or require general construction Health and Safety principles information, please contact us HERE.
